Star Trek: Timebound: Episode 0 - Prologue

Chapter 1: A Leap Through Time

Tony Bass had just finished another long day of cleaning pools, his mind occupied with thoughts of chlorine and skimmer baskets. As he closed the gate to his last client's backyard, he couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. Tonight was a special night for him and his girlfriend, Brittany. They had planned a romantic dinner to celebrate their anniversary.

Little did he know that their anniversary celebration would take an unexpected turn. As he walked towards his car, a sudden burst of blinding light engulfed him, leaving him disoriented and bewildered. When the light finally subsided, he found himself standing in the middle of a bustling Starfleet outpost, far from the familiar sights and sounds of his hometown.

Confusion and panic gripped him as he frantically looked around, searching for any sign of Brittany. His heart raced, fearing that she might have been caught up in the strange phenomenon as well. He called out her name, but his voice was drowned out by the hum of advanced technology and the chatter of alien beings.

Desperate to find answers, Tony pushed through the crowd, his mind racing with worry for Brittany's safety. As he approached a holographic information kiosk, he tapped on the screen, hoping to find any information about his sudden transportation.

A holographic figure materialized before him, and he quickly explained his situation, his voice trembling with concern for Brittany. The hologram listened attentively, its digital eyes displaying a hint of empathy.

"I'm sorry for your predicament," the hologram responded. "But I cannot provide any information about your girlfriend's whereabouts. However, you have found yourself in the year 2239, in Starfleet Outpost 14. We are an organization dedicated to space exploration, scientific discovery, and maintaining peace across the galaxy."

Tony's mind raced as he tried to comprehend the enormity of the situation. He couldn't fathom how he had been transported to this futuristic world, leaving behind everything he knew and loved, including Brittany.

Determined to find answers and reunite with his girlfriend, Tony began to explore the Starfleet outpost. He asked anyone who would listen about the possibility of time travel or any means to return to his own time. Some dismissed him as a confused outsider, while others offered sympathetic but unhelpful advice.

As the hours turned into days, his hope began to waver. He felt lost and alone in this strange new world, longing for the familiar comforts of home and the warmth of Brittany's embrace.

With each passing day, he immersed himself in the world of Starfleet, learning about the advanced technology, the diverse alien species, and the vastness of space exploration. He sought out mentors who could guide him, absorbing knowledge and skills that would aid him in his quest to reunite with Brittany.

As he delved deeper into the workings of Starfleet, he discovered that there were scientists and engineers who specialized in temporal anomalies and time travel. With a glimmer of hope, he approached one of these experts, Dr. Liara Nara, known for her expertise in temporal mechanics.

Dr. Nara listened intently to Tony's story, her eyes filled with both curiosity and compassion. She approached with a grave expression on her face.

"Tony," Dr. Nara began, her voice tinged with concern, "I'm afraid I have some difficult news. Returning to the exact moment you left would disrupt the timeline and have unforeseen consequences."

His heart sank, his dreams of reuniting with Brittany shattered in an instant. He struggled to comprehend the weight of Dr. Nara's words, the realization that he might never see his beloved again.

"But... but I can't just accept that," Tony pleaded, his voice filled with desperation. "There must be something we can do. I can't imagine my life without her."

Dr. Nara's eyes softened with empathy as she placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "I understand your pain. But tampering with the timeline could have catastrophic effects on the future. It's a risk we cannot take."

Tears welled up in Tony's eyes as he grappled with the devastating truth. He had traveled through time, faced unimaginable challenges, and now he was being told that he couldn't go back to the moment he left. The weight of the situation pressed upon him, threatening to crush his spirit.

In the midst of his despair, Dr. Nara offered a glimmer of hope. "However," she continued, "there might be a way for you to find happiness in this time. Starfleet has resources and opportunities that could provide you with a fulfilling life, even without returning to your exact moment in time."

Tony's gaze shifted from Dr. Nara to the bustling Starfleet outpost around him. He realized that he had already experienced the wonders and possibilities this world had to offer. Perhaps, in this new time, he could find purpose and make a difference.

With a heavy heart, he made the difficult decision to let go of his longing to return to his original timeline. He knew that he had to embrace the present and forge a new path for himself.

As the days turned into weeks, Tony sought solace and purpose in the pursuit of knowledge and exploration. He trained alongside Starfleet officers, learning about their missions, their values, and the vastness of the universe.

Chapter 2: A Pilot's Ascent

After his time at Outpost 14, Tony felt a deep calling to pursue a career in Starfleet. He set his sights on becoming a pilot, driven by a desire to explore the vast reaches of space and command his own starship someday.

He enrolled in Starfleet Academy, and spent the next four years immersing himself in a rigorous training program that tested his physical and mental capabilities. He excelled in his studies, demonstrating exceptional piloting skills and a natural aptitude for leadership.

During his time at the Academy, he formed lasting friendships with fellow cadets who shared his passion for space exploration. Together, they navigated the challenges of their training, supporting and pushing each other to reach their full potential.

Starfleet Academy - San Francisco, California

Under the guidance of experienced instructors, Tony honed his piloting skills, mastering the intricacies of various starship classes and learning to navigate through asteroid fields, nebulae, and other treacherous environments. He also delved into the theoretical aspects of starship operations, studying the principles of astrophysics, warp field dynamics, and interstellar navigation.

As graduation approached, Tony's dedication and exceptional performance caught the attention of Admiral Johnson, who saw in him the makings of a future starship captain. Impressed by Tony's skills and leadership potential, Admiral Johnson personally recommended him for an accelerated command training program.

Tony eagerly embraced the opportunity, diving into an intensive curriculum that focused on the responsibilities and challenges of commanding a starship. He studied under seasoned captains, learning about strategic decision-making, crew management, and the intricacies of interstellar diplomacy.

Upon completing his command training, Tony graduated from Starfleet Academy with top honors. He was assigned to the USS Horizon as a pilot, where he continued to refine his skills and gain practical experience under the guidance of Captain Ramirez.

His exceptional piloting abilities and leadership qualities quickly became evident to Captain Ramirez and the rest of the crew. He earned their respect and admiration, proving himself as a valuable asset during critical missions and challenging situations.

As the years passed, Tony's reputation as a skilled pilot and aspiring captain grew within Starfleet. He seized every opportunity to expand his knowledge and expertise, attending advanced training programs and participating in joint missions with other starships.

His dedication and unwavering commitment to his craft did not go unnoticed. His exemplary performance and leadership potential led to his promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, placing him on the fast track to achieving his dream of commanding his own starship.

With each successful mission and every milestone reached, his confidence and skills as a pilot continued to soar. He became known for his precision and finesse in navigating through challenging space environments, earning him the respect of his peers and superiors alike.

During one particularly perilous mission, Tony's quick thinking and exceptional piloting skills saved his crew from a catastrophic asteroid collision. His ability to remain calm under pressure and make split-second decisions showcased his potential as a future starship captain.

Recognizing Tony's exceptional talent and leadership qualities, Admiral Johnson personally approached him with an extraordinary opportunity. The USS Andromeda, a newly commissioned Walker-class starship, was in need of a skilled and capable captain. Admiral Johnson believed that Tony was the perfect candidate to take command of this prestigious vessel.

Overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement, Tony accepted the offer without hesitation. He knew that this was the moment he had been working towards since his days at Starfleet Academy. It was a chance to fulfill his lifelong dream of commanding his own starship and leading a crew into the uncharted depths of space.

With the promotion to the rank of Captain, Tony assumed command of the USS Andromeda.

Chapter 3: A Familiar Face

As Captain Tony Bass assumed command of the USS Andromeda, he was pleasantly surprised to see a familiar face among the crew. Dr. Liara Nara, an old friend from Outpost 14, stood before him, her presence radiating a sense of calm and familiarity.

"Liara!" Captain Bass exclaimed, a wide smile spreading across his face. "It's great to see you. It's been far too long."

Dr. Nara returned the smile, her eyes sparkling with warmth. "Tony, it's wonderful to see you too," she replied, extending her hand. "I never expected to be serving under your command, but I couldn't be happier about it."

Captain Bass shook her hand firmly, a sense of nostalgia washing over him. "Likewise, Liara. Your presence here brings back so many memories. I always knew we would cross paths again."

Dr. Nara's voice held a touch of playfulness. "Well, it seems we've both come a long way to get here. I'm honored to be chosen as your First Officer, Tony. I believe our shared history will only strengthen our working relationship."

Captain Bass nodded, his gaze filled with gratitude. "I couldn't agree more, Liara. Your expertise and level-headedness will be invaluable to me and the entire crew. I trust you completely."

Dr. Nara's eyes sparkled with determination. "Rest assured, Tony, I will do everything in my power to support you and ensure the success of our missions. Together, we'll make Andromeda a force to be reckoned with."

As they continued to catch up, Captain Bass and Dr. Nara reminisced about their time at Outpost 14, sharing stories of their adventures and the dreams they had once held. They marveled at the paths that had led them to this moment, where they stood side by side on the bridge of a starship.

With Dr. Nara as his First Officer, Captain Bass felt a renewed sense of confidence and excitement. He knew that her intelligence, compassion, and unwavering dedication to Starfleet's principles would be instrumental in leading the Andromeda and its crew to new frontiers.

Together, Captain Bass and Dr. Nara would forge a strong bond, combining their shared history and mutual respect to navigate the challenges that lay ahead. As they prepared to embark on their first mission together, they were filled with a sense of anticipation and determination. The crew of the USS Andromeda looked on, witnessing the reunion of their captain and first officer, and they couldn't help but feel inspired by the camaraderie and trust that emanated between them.

Captain Bass addressed the entire bridge, his voice filled with enthusiasm and gratitude. "I want to extend a warm welcome to all of you," he began. "Each one of you brings unique skills and experiences to this ship, and I have no doubt that together, we will accomplish great things."

He turned his attention back to Dr. Nara. "Liara, as my First Officer, I trust you to be my right hand. Your knowledge, leadership, and unwavering dedication to Starfleet's ideals make you the perfect choice for this role. I am honored to have you by my side."

Dr. Nara nodded, a sense of pride evident in her expression. "Thank you, Captain. I am grateful for this opportunity, and I promise to give my all to support you and the crew. Together, we will navigate the challenges of deep space and make the Andromeda a beacon of Starfleet's values."

The rest of the bridge crew applauded, their excitement and confidence in their new leadership palpable. Captain Bass's warm smile spread across his face as he looked at each member of his team.

"Together, we will explore the unknown, encounter new civilizations, and face whatever challenges come our way," Captain Bass declared. "I have complete faith in each and every one of you. Let's make the USS Andromeda a symbol of unity, discovery, and excellence. Let's have some fun!"

With renewed determination and a shared sense of purpose, the crew of the USS Andromeda prepared to embark on their first mission under Captain Bass' command. They were ready to face the mysteries of the cosmos, knowing that their captain and first officer would lead them with unwavering dedication and a bond forged through friendship.
